Easy Hacks to Spruce Up Curb Appeal Quickly

Bret Engle • Aug 24, 2022

The first thing buyers see when they lay eyes on your property is the curb appeal or how it looks on the outside. Science has proven appearances do matter, and significantly impact feelings of goodwill or negativity towards the interior. Thus, if you can spruce up the exterior of your home, you already have a leg up in raising its property value. Just be sure that you keep good records and receipts of any work you have done.

Here, Junk Removal Saskatoon walks you through some easy hacks for a quick transformation.

Put Out Planters

Plants are the perfect way to create a green oasis, but make sure it's neat, organized, and sophisticated. Avoid the overgrown jungle look by adding planters of varying sizes and heights, overflowing with shrubs and plants. Place the planters below your porch windows for an orderly look, or have them line up your driveway and porch stairs for a grander entrance to your home. Bonus: homemade planters are also a great project to DIY!

Replace Doorknobs

Don’t think of doorknobs simply as a functional element. Instead, use this little detail to have fun with the design of your property! Adding in an antique doorknob made of brass or gold plate will give your property an old-world charm, while a stainless steel fixture will give off a more modern finish. You could also get funky with it and do something out of the box, like a lion’s head or animal doorknob.

Paint the Front Door

The front door is the focal point of your home and a powerful representation of what to expect inside the house. So why not go with a bold and exciting colour to make the element pop? According to Canva, contrasts help draw attention to a space, so play around with a shocking and vibrant colour (especially if the rest of the exterior is a bit bland and boring). We promise that this touch alone will give your home a touch of whimsy and playfulness that will be tremendously beneficial down the line.

Add a New Fence

Repairs are the way to go if you’re looking for a budget-friendly fix for your exterior. If your home is surrounded by an old and rotting fence, repairing it is one of the quickest things you can do to up the curb appeal significantly. Paint over the existing wood for a fresh look or even replace it to match the aesthetic of the rest of the house.

Improve the Landscape

While there’s no shortage of ways to spend money on improving the look of your yards and flower beds, adding more appeal to your home’s landscaping doesn’t have to be costly. Some key ideas to keep in mind are considering how plants’ colours and textures change throughout the seasons, finding ways to use hardscaping, and creating lines of continuity throughout the landscape. You can save a lot on changing your landscape by doing the work yourself. And if you have any junk taking up space in your yard, get Junk Removal Saskatoon to get rid of it for you.

Whether you own, rent, or are thinking of selling your home; curb appeal is everything. A beautiful-looking home is easy on the eyes, as it invites guests in and lures potential buyers with dreams about their future home..
